Freetown Senior Secondary Opens January 2003

Senior Secondary

EducAid Freetown School started in September 2000. It has been a huge success increasing from an initial 30 pupils to a current 150. This school caters for pupils who have completed primary education (at some time - usually not recently) and we take them onto the national BECE exam 3 years later. There has always been a question though about what our students should go on to do next.

EducAid does not have the resources to pay for them to continue elsewhere. Therefore to start our own Senior Secondary School seemed the only realistic way forward.

making furniture

A Senior Secondary section was added to the EducAid Freetown School in September 2002 and this moved into its own not too luxurious premises - the EducAid garage - in January 2003.

making tables

Accomodation continues to be a challenge but the commitment of staff and pupils alike is inspirational. We did pay for some new furniture to be made at a local carpentry shop!
