St. Edmund's College Fundraiser for Educaid

For two weeks in February, you would have been hard pressed not to have missed the numerous activities that were organised for our annual Fundraising bonanza, with all monies raised going to Educaid – an organisation providing free education and food for students in Sierra Leone.

Students and staff worked energetically organising a range of enterprising activities including the sale of Candygrams and roses on Valentines Day, cake sales, shoe-polishing, car washing and hair braiding. Other highlights included; a Talent Show with acts ranging from rock bands to classical guitarists, with the final accolade of Star in Waiting going to Miah Hough-Barnard for her impersonation of Vicky Pollard, the de-whiskering of the Messrs Lewis (Geography and Games) and a wince-some leg waxing for the Deputy Headmaster, Mr Wilkin and the Head Boy, Joe Alaimo.

Finally, a brave Mr West faced an array of wet sponges in the Orchard, thrown by students who stumped up £1 for three shots. To make it worse, the skies opened and a mini blizzard swept across the fields. Undaunted, Mr West sat still as nearly 400 wet sponges hurtled his way.

In total, the tremendous sum of over £3,000 was raised for Educaid, with much fun and hilarity in the process. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this fantastic effort, especially Miss Moakler who masterminded and co-ordinated the whole fortnight.
